Electric cars are the way to go for the future and car companies are working hard to bring them at an affordable entry-level price point. As opposed to the standard ICE cars, electric cars are moving from premium offerings to affordable ones. In line with this, Hyundai has introduced its entry-level EV Inster for the global markets. On the other hand, the Skoda Epiq Concept EV revealed a few months ago is the Czech carmaker’s entry-level EV. In this article, we will run you through the two upcoming game changer EVs i.e. Hyundai Inster and Skoda Epiq.

Hyundai recently uncovered its global product which will be positioned as an entry-level model in the electric vehicle line-up. The Inster EV takes inspiration from the Casper sub-compact city car which is a petrol-only model in the Korean market, however, the new EV will be slightly longer.
The platform used by Casper has been reworked to accommodate an electric powertrain and is longer in terms of length to provide better space inside the cabin and for the battery pack. The Casper measures 3.5 metres long and its underpinnings have been extended by a good 230mm.
The Inster EV will measure 3.8 metres in length and 1.6 metres wide, thereby making it easy to put the battery pack on the floorboard. It will have a proper 5-seater configuration.
The Hyundai Inster EV SUV will get two battery pack options i.e. a 42 kWh unit with a claimed range of 300 kilometres and a 49 kWh unit with a claimed range of 350 kilometres. The entry-level variant will produce 96 hp via its front axle-mounted motor with a top speed of 140 kmph. The 0-100 kmph comes up in 11.7 seconds.
The bigger battery pack will come with a top speed of 150 kmph and the 0-100 kmph speed comes up in 10.6 seconds. The electric motor in this setup puts out 113 bhp.
Much like the Hyundai Inster, the Skoda Epiq will be a global entry-level electric model and it will debut in the first half of 2025 in its final production form.
The Skoda Epiq will use an entry-level version of the VW Group’s MEB Born-Electric platform and the electric SUV will measure 4.1 metres in length. The boot space will stand at a massive 490 litres which is very good for a vehicle of this size. The claimed range will be over 400 kilometres and it will use a front-wheel drive configuration. The battery capacity is not known as of now, however, it is expected to use around 40 kWh battery.
