Audi RS4 Avant 25 Years Revealed: The Engine Upgrade

For the record, this is the last hurrah of the RS4 before it will be replaced by the RS5 Avant next year. Under the hood, the familiar 2.9 litre V6 twin turbo is powering the special edition model. However, the power output figures have been bumped up by 20 BHP. The total output from this system now stands at 470 BHP and 600Nm of peak torque. This extra power resulted in a faster zero to 100 KMPH timing, which now stands at 3.2 seconds, a good 0.4 seconds faster than the regular model.

This power upgrade also makes the RS4 faster than its arch-rival, the BMW M3 Touring.

Being a limited-run special edition model, the changes are not just limited to the engine. Considerable tweaks have been made to the suspension department. Includes manually adjustable coil over springs which are usually reserved for race cars. To be specific, the RS4 is now 10 MM lower than the standard model and the springs can further be lowered by 10MM if you plan to hit the corners on a lazy weekend.

Moreover, the overall power distribution is more biased towards the rear, with the help of the Quattro sport differential setup. Into this, the gearbox has been worked upon to make the shift even faster.
