Volvo XC40 Recharge Gets More Affordable In India: BYD Seal Effect

Volvo has introduced a single-motor variant of the XC40 Recharge at a price tag of Rs. 54.95 lakh; BYD Seal effect?

With the electric vehicle space gaining constant traction in the Indian market, Volvo has cut down on the prices of its all-electric SUV, the XC40 Recharge. This price reduction comes in the form of a single motor variant which will set you back by Rs. 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This trim uses a 69kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 475 kilometres on a single charge. Let’s have a look at the details of the newly launched Volvo XC40 Recharge varinat.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Single-Motor Variant: Price Difference

The dual-motor AWD P8 variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge costs Rs. 57.90 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the newly launched more affordable single-motor trim costs around Rs. 55 lakh (ex-showroom). With this calculation, the price difference comes down to exactly Rs. 2.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Also, the single-motor variant apparently makes more sense for most buyers and a good 3 lakhs less makes it a steal deal. Which variant of the XC40 Recharge will you buy? Affordable Volvo XC40 Recharge: Powertrain Differences

The XC40 P8 AWD trim uses a 79 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed number of 418 kilometres. The newly launched XC40 Recharge single-motor variant is even better with a claimed range of 475 kilometres using a slightly smaller 69kWh battery pack. So, the better the range, the better it serves the purpose.

Talking about the output figures, the single-motor trim delivers 236 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque as compared to the P8 AWD’s 402 bhp and 660 Nm of peak torque. The P8 AWD is also faster in 0-100 kmph spring timing of 4.9 seconds.

Launching the new variant after the BYD Seal’s launch is a clear indication of the fact that car companies are affected by competition. That too in the segment with very small numbers. So, the more the competition, the better the service and prices for the customers.
