While the details regarding the powertrain are scarce at the moment, we expect the strong hybrid Tiguan will use the familiar 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine paired with an electric motor. Since Volkswagen is looking at volume-intensive models for its hybrid plans in the US, the Tiguan hybrid will likely be launched first, as the company plans to launch the latest third-gen model this year. On the other hand, the Atlas Hybrid SUV is still a few years away, and it could be launched with the next-gen Atlas, which is due soon.
