Kia will continue to bet on diesel engines with the launch of 2 new cars this year.

Kia India is one of the few manufacturers holding onto the diesel powertrain option despite the emission norms making it difficult for diesels to survive. The brand currently has two diesel engines in its line-up: 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbo-charged oil burners. Let’s look at the upcoming Kia Diesel Cars in 2025.

Upcoming Kia Diesel Cars: Syros Compact SUV- Power, Expected Starting Price & Fuel Efficiency

The Kia Syros was unveiled last year and is scheduled to go on sale on February 1. With the tallboy design, the compact SUV looks much different from the current crop of Kia cars. It will get the familiar 1.5 litre CRDi diesel engine putting out 115 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options on offer include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. The claimed fuel efficiency from the diesel engine will be around 22 kmpl for the manual and 19 kmpl for the automatic gearbox option.

The AT gearbox will command a premium of about 1.5 lakh over the manual version. Expect the Syros diesel to come at a starting price of Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

Upcoming Kia Diesel Cars: Carens Facelift MPV

The Kia Carens was launched in 2022 and it is time for a mid-cycle update for the MPV. Expected to launch around mid-2025, the Kia Carens Facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, putting out 115 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to the option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. Some of the changes to the design will include a new front fascia, refreshed alloy wheels and more features like ADAS and a 360-degree parking camera.

The current price of Kia Carens diesel starts from Rs. 12.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the facelift model to command a premium of Rs. 20,000-30,000 over the current model. The Carens will also be sold with the 1.5-litre NA petrol and 1.5-litre tGDi petrol engines.
