Tata Punch EV bagged a full 5 Stars in the Bharat NCAP crash test rating; The adult and child occupant protection score is higher than the Tata Nexon EV.

Tata Motors has been known for its brilliant performance in the crash test results and the trend of 5 stars continues with the Punch EV testing as the latest Bharat NCAP protocols. As expected, the Punch EV came out with flying colours scoring 5 stars for both adult and child occupant protection. The top-of-the-line, Punch.ev EMP+ S Long Range variant was tested with a gross weight of 1626 kg.

Tata Punch EV 5 Stars Bharat NCAP: Detailed Analysis

Going by the crash test fact sheet, the Punch EV scored 31.46/ 32 points for adult occupant protection while the child occupant protection’s point tally stood at 45.00/ 49. Both these points resulted in a cumulative 5-star crash test rating. Analysing the impact graph, the protection for the driver’s head, neck and chest was good while the front passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. It is important to note that the Tata Punch EV comes with 6 airbags as standard and this crash test result is applicable for all the variants of the electric micro-SUV.

These crash test results are a testament to the safety standards followed by Tata Motors. Seeing the scores, it is clear that the scores are a bit better than the Punch EV’s bigger siblings like Nexon, Harrier and Safari.

The Punch EV is priced in the range of Rs. 10.99 lakh to Rs. 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and it rivals the likes of Citroen eC3 in the Indian market, which scored 0 stars in the Global NCAP crash test results. The Punch EV is available in two battery pack options, namely a 25kWh medium range and a 35kWh long-range variant. The former comes with a claimed range of 315 kilometres while the latter’s claimed range on a single charge stands at 421 kilometres.
