Tata Motors already sports an expansive variant line-up for the Nexon with around 70 trims on offer. With the automatic transmission gaining traction in urban areas, the need for a more affordable option became an absolute must. In line with this, the Indian carmaker has launched 5 new AMT variants and the petrol AMT range of Nexon now starts from Rs. 10 lakh.
At the time of launch, the Nexon AMT petrol started at Rs. 11.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and the diesel AMT at Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom) as the AMT gearbox option was only available from the mid-spec Creative Trim. The new AMT range starts from Rs. 10 lakh with the Smart+ petrol variant while the diesel AMT will set you back by a minimum of Rs. 11.80 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Pure AMT variant.
Smart Plus Petrol AMT- Rs. 10 Lakh
Pure Petrol AMT- Rs. 10.50 Lakh
Pure S Petrol AMT- Rs. 11 Lakh
Pure Diesel AMT- Rs. 11.80 Lakh
Pure S Diesel AMT- Rs. 12.30 Lakh
Nexon is the only car in the segment apart from the XUV300 which offers an AMT gearbox. However, we can’t undermine the fact that there is a DCT gearbox on offer too but it is reserved for the higher spec variants and the diesel gets an AMT gearbox. On the other hand, the Brezza comes with a 6-speed torque converter (decent performer), the Venue gets a DCT with turbo petrol and Sonet also gets a DCT with the turbo petrol engine and a torque converter with diesel engine.
