Tata Nexon EV bagged a full 5 Stars in the Bharat NCAP crash test rating; The adult and child occupant protection score is lower than the Tata Punch EV.
Tata Motors has been known for its brilliant performance in the crash test results and the trend of 5 stars continues with the Nexon EV testing as per the latest Bharat NCAP protocols. As expected, the Nexon EV came out with flying colours scoring 5 stars for both adult and child occupant protection. The top-of-the-line, Tata Nexon.ev – Long Range Empowered variant was tested with a gross weight of 1816 kg. Along with the Nexon EV, the crash test was also conducted for Punch EV and it also scored a 5-star rating.
Tata Nexon EV 5 Stars Bharat NCAP: Detailed Analysis
Going by the crash test fact sheet, the Nexon EV scored 29.86 / 32.00 points for adult occupant protection while the child occupant protection’s point tally stood at 44.95/ 49.00. Both these points resulted in a cumulative 5-star crash test rating. Analysing the impact graph, the protection for the driver’s head and neck was good while the chest showed adequate protection. On the other hand, the protection for the front passenger’s head, neck and chest was observed to be good. It is important to note that the Tata Nexon EV comes with 6 airbags as standard and this crash test result is applicable for all the variants of the electric compact SUV.
These crash test results are a testament to the safety standards followed by Tata Motors. Seeing the scores, it is clear that the scores are a bit lower than the Punch EV which even scored higher than its other bigger siblings like Harrier and Safari.
The Nexon EV is priced in the range of Rs. 14.49 lakh to Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and it rivals the likes of Mahindra XUV400 EV Pro Range models, upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX in the Indian market. The Nexon EV is available in two battery pack options, namely a 30kWh medium range and a 40.5kWh long-range variant. The former comes with a claimed range of 325 kilometres while the latter’s claimed range on a single charge stands at 465 kilometres.
