Skoda Superb Launched in India At Rs. 54 Lakh: Overpriced

Limited to just 100 units, the Skoda Superb has made a comeback in India in its third-generation avatar; Only available in the top-spec L&K guise.

Skoda has launched the 2024 Superb in India at Rs. 54 lakh. The third-generation model has made a comeback in the domestic market after almost a year and we have got the top-of-the-line L&K variant. While everything remains more or less the same, a few new features have been added to the package. The new Superb is limited to just 100 units for now and it will be sold in India via the CBU route.

Skoda Superb Launched in India: New Features

Being a fully imported model, the new Superb comes loaded with a few extra features over the previous model such as Skoda’s Dynamic Chassis control system, active TPMS and 9 airbags. In addition to this, the premium sedan also gets a new 9-inch Columbus infotainment system. The Superb is now available in only 3 colour options with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Skoda Superb Launched in India: Price Analysis

The new Superb commands a premium of around Rs. 17 lakh over the previous model which is not justified by any means even after factoring in the new feature additions. The extra price is going for the heavy taxes levied due to the direct import. No wonder why the sales units are limited to just 100 units. Maybe, Skoda is testing the waters for now and could introduce more units depending on the demand. Its closest rival, the Toyota Camry is priced at Rs. 46.17 lakh (ex-showroom).

Under the hood, the Skoda Superb carries the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which is now BS6 Phase 2 compliant. It comes with a rated power output of 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

We will suggest you to wait for the new 4th-generation Superb which is due sometime next year instead of buying the current model which hardly makes any sense at around Rs. 60 lakh (on-road) in India.
