Skoda Kylaq was launched in the Indian market in December 2024 and it is the most affordable car from the Czech carmaker. At a starting price of Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kylaq is available in four variants, a single engine option and 2 transmission choices. The bookings of the Kylaq are already underway and the deliveries have also started. In this article, let’s see what a regular customer feels about the Skoda Kylaq.

After spending some time in the rear seat of the Kylaq, the customers feel that Skoda has compromised on the legroom to make space for a larger boot. For a person measuring 5’11, the legroom is barely manageable.
Front electric seats seem unnecessary and a 360-degree parking camera would have been a better addition. Moreover, the quality of the rear camera was reported as poor. This car is not for 5 passengers, as only 4 can be seated comfortably.
After a 10-minute spin in the manual transmission variant of the Kylaq, the turbo lag was evident but seemed manageable at city speeds. The suspension feel was very good on the bumpy and potholes-filled roads of Bangalore. The brightness of the headlight was adequate, however, some cars in the segment have a better throw and intensity.
The visibility from the driving seat was good and there were no issues reported in the ground clearance department. The mileage indicated on the MID stood at 13-14 kmpl with a mild foot.
The touch and feel were reported as good by the customer. No quality issues were found on signature + & prestige models. The audio system is not a branded unit, unlike its rivals and the sound quality was okayish. In terms of exterior design, the proportions felt nice, however, the rear design was not at all appealing. The 17-inch wheels give it an imposing stance.
There’s a lot of potential in terms of exterior design tweaks, something on the lines of Sport Line models of the Kushaq and Slavia with black elements can make it look even better.

With a 5-star crash test safety rating in Bharat NCAP, the Kylaq feels very sturdy. For customers on the lookout for a car with a good driving feel & don’t want to go overboard with the features, this can be your next new car. As per the salesperson at the dealership, the waiting time for the top-spec trim is 12 weeks. Expect the lower-spec variants to have longer waiting periods.
