The Czech carmaker has been playing catch-up with the prominent names in the mid-size SUV and sedan segment. In short, the Skoda siblings fall short of features when directly compared to their respective rivals. While the use of these features is a personal preference, research shows that Indian customers are inclined towards feature-rich cars. Addressing this issue, Skoda has confirmed that it will introduce new features to the Kushaq and Slavia. These features will be added via special edition models while the ADAS will come with the facelift models.
Over 2 years in the Indian market, the Slavia and Kushaq have managed to establish a good ground and the future seems bright in this regard. The lacking features such as 360-degree parking camera, front parking sensors and more. We can expect a price increase of around Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 with the addition of these features.
On the other hand, the ADAS is reserved for the facelift model as of now. We expect the facelift of the Kushaq and Slavia to arrive by the end of this year or early 2025. A gap of around 6 months is expected between the launch of Skoda Kushaq and Slavia facelift models.
Talking about the rivals, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate come equipped with ADAS tech in the mid-size SUV segment. On the other hand, the Hyundai Verna and Honda City also get ADAS. Reportedly, the upcoming Skoda compact SUV is also expected to come equipped with ADAS at the time of its launch in March 2025. Currently, the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue offer ADAS in the sub-4-meter SUV segment.
While the company has not shared an indicative timeline for these feature updates as well as the facelift of the Kushaq and Slavia, we expect the new features to be introduced around mid-2024. The mid-life facelift models of the MQB-A0-IN-based Skoda cars are still a good time away.
