With diesel engines getting suppressed by stricter emission norms, the Tata Curvv will rely on two petrol engines. The familiar 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine from the Nexon and Altroz Racer will do the duties on the Curvv as well, most likely in the same state of tune. It will be restricted to the lower spec trims of the Curvv. Producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque, it will be mated to the option of a DCA automatic gearbox with paddle shifters as well as a 6-speed manual unit.
To enter into the performance territory of the mid-size SUV segment, Tata Motors will debut its brand new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder tGDi petrol engine with the Curvv. It will be tuned to produce 125 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque. This engine will also be mated to a DCA gearbox in addition to the 6-speed manual shifter.

Competing in the mid-size SUV segment requires a diesel engine to keep up with the rivals and Tata Motors will utilize its 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel workhorse from the Nexon. However, our sources suggest that it’s a new unit and the company is calling it the 1.5 L CRAIL diesel. Most probably, some changes have been carried out to the existing engine to enhance the power delivery and control NVH levels. This engine will also get the DCA automatic gearbox along with the 6-speed manual unit.
