Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Launched: Chassis and Powertrain
Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is derived from the Himalayan 450 and the main frame is a straight lift-off with the engine as the stressed member. However, the rear sub-frame is new and also shorted, resulting in a shorter wheelbase as compared to its ADV sibling. In addition to this, the front suspension rake angle has also been adjusted for the proper neo-retro stance.
The two-wheeler is powered by the familiar Sherpa 450 motor which is a 452cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine putting out 40 bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque. The power figures may sound familiar to the Himalayan 450, however, the tuning and gear ratios have been tweaked.

The latest Royal Enfield weighs 185 kg dry and is lighter than the Himalayan by a good 11kg. The fuel tank capacity is 11 litres. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels on both ends, shod with CEAT Gripp XL tyres from the factory. The Guerrilla 450 uses a 120-section front tyre while the rear is a 160-section unit. These tyres are quite wide and in fact, the widest ever fitted to a made-in-India motorcycle.

Talking about the suspension, the front end utilizes a conventional telescopic unit with rubber gaiters while the rear end comes with an adjustable mono-shock. The braking department is handled by a 310mm front disc with a dual-piston calliper and the rear gets a 270mm disc, supported by a dual-channel ABS.
The two-wheeler gets features like all-LED lighting, a coloured TFT digital display from the Himalayan, a Google-based navigation system, ride modes, dual-channel ABS and more. The base-spec Guerrilla 450 misses out on the TFT display which is replaced by a familiar semi-analogue cluster from the Super Meteor 650 with the option of a tripped navigation pod.
The new Royal Enfiled motorcycle rivals the likes of the Triumph Speed 400, Honda CB300R, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Hero Mavrick 440 in the Indian market.
