Price hikes have become a part and parcel of the automotive industry in India. Every manufacturer revises the price of its offerings almost two to three times yearly. The latest car company to join the bandwagon of price hikes is the MG Motor India. For the record, the Chinese-owned carmaker also reduced the prices of its cars in February this year. However, in the latest development, it has come to light that MG will soon announce the price hike and it will be effective from June 2024.

An official circular issued by the company to the dealer principals and regional sales manager has highlighted this information. This price increment will cover popular models like Astor, Hector, ZS EV, and Gloster. Up to a 2% price hike is expected across the range, however, it will vary depending on variant and model. The MG Comet EV is likely to be put under this price hike. The notice also says that some variants with strategic which are the entry-level trims will be immune to this price hike in June 2024.
It is no secret that MG Motor India is currently going through a rough phase in terms of sales figures. The Hector is the company’s top-selling product, followed by the Astor in the Indian market. In addition to this, no major growth in the sales have been observed since many months and it is one of the reasons why MG reduced the price of its model in February 2024. However, with its partnership with JSW India, MG is expected to bring a host of new models in India which will likely help the cause.
