MG Hector Gets Another Price Cut: Why?

MG Hector now starts from Rs. 14 Lakh (ex-showroom); Second Price Revision in 6 months

The new range of MG Hector starts from Rs. 14 lakh for the base petrol and Rs. 17.70 lakh for the base diesel variant. While price hikes are quite common, a price reduction is a rare scenario, however, it is not so rare in the case of MG Motor India. This is the second cut in a span of six months.

Before talking about the possible reasons behind these price cuts, let’s take a quick look at the latest new variants.

MG Hector Shine Pro and Select Pro: Details

The Shine Pro replaces the Shine variant in the Hector line-up. Apart from being Rs. 44,000 more affordable than before in petrol powertrain, it adds a bunch of new features such as LED DRLs, LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, 14-inch infotainment system and 7-inch MID amongst others. On the contrary, the Shine Pro diesel is now Rs. 20,000 more expensive than before.

The Select Pro trim replaces the Smart trim and gets features like 18-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech and an 8-speaker premium sound system.

Similarly, the MG Hector Plus also gets a variant rejig but instead of petrol, the diesel gets cheaper by Rs. 2.40 lakh with the introduction of a new entry level Style variant.

MG Hector and MG Hector Plus Price Cut: Why?

There are multiple reasons behind the company taking such sharp decisions, which can affect a lot of factors including the trust of buyers who bought the Hector at a higher price tag. The top reason is obviously the declining sales figures which stands at the lowest in the segment combing the Hector and Hector Plus.

MG Hector Price cut can also been as an adjustment of the steep hikes last year and how it compares to the rivals in terms of pricing.
