Mahindra & Mahindra has allocated a total production capacity of around 9,500 units for the Thar nameplate; The Thar range will expand further.
Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx 5-Door in the Indian market at a mouth-watering starting price of Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the new lifestyle SUV will commence on October 3 while the deliveries are set to start from Dussehra this year i.e. 12th October 2024. The test drives will start on 14th September, when the car will likely arrive in the showrooms. Mahindra Thar Roxx Monthy Production Capacity: Thar Roxx 5-Door & Thar 3-Door
We all know that Mahindra has a limited production capacity and hence, we see the long waiting period on its SUVs. To keep a good delivery pace, the Indian SUV maker plans to cut down on the monthly production of the current Thar 3-Door. The Thar is currently selling around 4000-4500 units every month and is produced in the same quantity monthly.
To make way for the Thar Roxx, production of the 3-door model will be reduced to 3000 units as Mahindra believes that the buyers will be more inclined towards Thar Roxx. While this may or may not be true, it is clear that the company wants to prioritise the Thar Roxx as of now.
The capacity allocation for the Thar Roxx will be around 6,500 units every month. This means a total production capacity of around 9,500 units.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Monthy Production Capacity: Expected Waiting Period
Seeing the enthusiasm for the Mahindra Thar Roxx, we expect a good amount of bookings and we won’t be surprised if it surpasses the 1 lakh mark. Taking this ballpark figure, we are looking at a waiting period of around 15-18 months. This means you will have to wait for around 1 to 1.5 years for taking the delivery of Thar Roxx depending upon the variant, powertrain as well as colour choice. The petrol will have a lesser waiting time due to lesser demand. We also believe that the lower and mid-spec trim will command the highest waiting period.
It is important to note that these are rough calculations based on the monthly production capacity and Mahindra will officially communicate the variant-wise waiting period before starting the deliveries. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
