Mahindra & Mahindra today launched the Thar Roxx in the Indian market. The starting price of the Thar 5-Door is set at Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the pricing of the remaining variants will be revealed soon. As of now, only the prices of the base MX1 petrol and diesel variants are out. Mahindra will disclose the remaining details tomorrow.

The starting price is set at Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base MX1 petrol variant while the diesel MX1 will set you back by Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). That’s a premium of Rs. 1 lakh for the diesel engine option which will return a better fuel economy. The base-spec MX1 will only be available with RWD configuration.
The familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will power the Thar Roxx and it is tuned to produce 148 bhp and 330 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Thar Roxx petrol will use the 2.0 litre Stallion gasoline engine putting out 158 bhp and 330 Nm of peak torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
These power figures are for the base-spec MX1 RWD variants and other trims will get higher power and torque figures along with the option of a 6-speed automatic and 4WD. The details of these will be announced tomorrow.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets an updated design and an extra set of doors along with a proper second row inside the cabin. It gets a proper 5-seater configuration with a good amount of boot space, however, the official figures are yet to be revealed by Mahindra. The new grille gives it a refreshed appeal and we also get a new set of 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Thar Roxx gets a dual-tone finish and the steering wheel is a straight life-off from the Scorpio N and XUV700. The top half gets a black soft-touch treatment while the lower half is finished in a beige shade. It gets a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Both the rows get a centre armrest. The upholstery is finished in light beige.
