For September 2024, Mahindra is offering massive discounts of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh on the Thar 3-Door; the offer applies to both RWD & 4WD variants of the Thar.

Mahindra & Mahindra has rolled out the discount for the Thar 3-Door. The benefits on the Thar RWD and 4WD variants extend up to Rs. 1.5 lakh. The Thar has been in high demand since its launch in the year 2020, introduction of discounts comes as a surprise. While the long waiting period was always been a thing for the SUV, the affair has likely changed after the launch of Thar Roxx.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door Discount: Benefits of Up To Rs. 1.5 Lakh

Mahindra is offering a discount of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh across the Thar Range in September 2024. This includes both the RWD and 4WD variants of the Thar. The AX optional diesel MT RWD variant gets the least benefits of up to Rs. 1.36 lakh while all the other variants can be had with discounts of Rs. 1.5 lakh. While the exact details are currently unknown, these are most likely a straight-up cash offer.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door Discount: Why?

The SUV which once had a waiting period of around 1 year is now available with Rs. 1.5 discount. This is quite surprising and comes down to the two main factors.

With the launch of the Thar Roxx 5-Door which will be a more practical choice for the customers, Mahindra believes that the demand for the Thar 3-Door will be much lower. This also accounts for the lower production capacity and sales cannibalization.

The Thar 3-Door appears quite dated now and Mahindra knows it very well. To keep up with the pace, a mid-life facelift of the Thar 3-Door is on the cards and will likely be launched by the end of this year. This also means that these discounts are a way to clear up the piled-up inventory with the dealers as well as the production plant.
