Mahindra Scorpio EV & Bolero EV: What We Know So Far?
During a recent investor meeting, the top official at Mahindra spilled some beans about its electrification plans and as per the reports, the Scorpio EV and Bolero EV could be a reality. The fact that all the current nameplates will be electrified was highlighted including a special mention for the Scorpio and Bolero. The electric version of these ladder frame vehicles will bear the .e suffix, something similar we have seen with the Thar.e and the XUV.e range. The XUV.e range will be at the forefront of electrification along with the BE range of EVs.
Mahindra Scorpio EV & Bolero EV: Expected Powertrain and Platform Details
The XUV.e and BE range of electric vehicles will be based on the brand’s born electric INGLO platform and Thar.e will utilize its modified version i.e. the P1 (internal codename) architecture. This electric-specific platform can accommodate a wheelbase measuring between 2,775 and 2,975 mm. We suspect the same platform to be used for the Scorpio and Bolero EV, as all three SUVs have the ladder frame underpinnings as common. The wheelbase of the conventionally powered Scorpio N stands at 2,750 mm while the current-gen Bolero’s wheelbase measures 2,680 mm.
Under the hood, the Mahindra Scorpio.e and Bolero.e could share the powertrain components like battery pack and electric motor with some of the upcoming electric SUVs, whose powertrain details are already out. The Thar.e concept sported two electric motors, one on each axle, thus giving it AWD capabilities. As per the company, the electric Thar’s platform could come with a battery capacity of 60kWh or 80kWh, delivering a claimed range of anywhere between 325-450 kilometres on a single charge.
