Kia has issued a recall for 4,62,869 Telluride SUVs manufactured between 2020 and 2024; Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside the house until the recall is performed.
Recalls are a part and parcel of the automotive industry and are often issued to sort out manufacturing defects at a mass level. The most recent recall news comes from the Korean giant Kia which has issued a warning related to the Telluride SUV over a potential fire risk. The recall involves over 460K units which in itself is a very huge number and all the SUVs manufactured from 2019 to 2024 are a part of this recall.

Kia Telluride Recall 2024: What is the problem?
The recall is due to a defective front-powered seat electric motor which has a potential risk of fire hazard. Due to an impact of sufficient force, the switch controlling the powered seats can get stuck in a certain position which will lead to the constant operation of the seat’s electric motor, in turn, leading to heating as well as failure. This heating of an electric motor can result in a fire. As per the reports, a total of 7 cases have been reported so far but none of the cases resulted in any major damage or the vehicle or owner. 1 under seat fire and other 6 cases had melting of the electric motor.
Kia Telluride Recall 2024: What the owners should do?
As per a statement by Kia, owners can continue to drive their SUVs, however, are advised to park them outside their homes, in order to be on the safe side. As for the recall is concerned, the owners will be notified by an official email and asked to bring the SUV to the nearest dealership for the replacement work. The bracket holding the seats as well as the power seats slide knob will be replaced free of cost and these new parts will ensure better safety for the customers. The dealer will be notified regarding the recall on July 25 and notifications to the owners will be self in the following weeks in a phased manner.
