With similar powertrains across the range, this analysis is valid for the Mahindra Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, XUV700, Thar 3-Door and Thar Roxx.
While buying a new car, customers don’t pay much attention to the service cost of the vehicle. The upfront price of the car, which includes the registration tax, insurance and other basic is given all the importance. However, service expenses make up a big part of the overall ownership cost over time.
Interestingly, we have come across an example which will make you more considerate about the service cost of the car you are buying. OPAV Autos has learned that Mahindra is slowly increasing the cost of its basic service parts. This comes courtesy of personally owning a Mahindra SUV. When we observed this trend, we thought of doing a proper analysis and presenting the facts in front of you.

Mahindra Increasing Cost of Basic Service Parts: The Curious Case of AdBlue DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)
Mahindra is currently charging Rs. 880 (including taxes) for the 10-litre bucket of DEF. Filling an extra 1 litre of DEF, using the small 1 litre bottle, will cost Rs. 218 (including taxes). In our case, we filled an extra 2 litres of DEF, using two 1-litre bottles, which cost Rs. 436. Yes, that’s half the price of the 10-litre DEF bucket. According to us, the delta between the prices of the larger 10-litre DEF bucket and the smaller 1-litre bottle is huge, and it makes no sense for a customer to get the extra 1-litre refill bottles of DEF.
