Citroen Basalt Price Hike January 2025

The base variant of the Citroen Basalt gets the highest increment.

Citroen launched the Basalt Coupe SUV in August last year in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the competent pricing, the coupe SUV failed to make a mark in the sales department. For reference, only 79 units of the Basalt were sold in December 2024. November was even slower at 47 units. In total, Citroen sold only 566 units in December 2024. Now, the Basalt gets its first-ever price hike since the launch.

Citroen Basalt Price Hike: Was it necessary?

Factoring in Basalt’s overall low sales, the price hike comes as a surprise. While manufacturers usually increase discounts on low-selling models, Citroen seems to be taking an altogether different approach. One key reason for the price hike could be to cut down on losses and bring the production cost at par with the selling price.

With no immediate new launch on the cards, Citroen should work on improving its products by giving them a comprehensive update along with introducing some good discounts and added benefits like free-of-cost extended warranty.
