Why is Kia Seltos better than Hyundai Creta

The Kia Seltos comes as a more exciting package than the Hyundai Creta in terms of design as well as carrying a youthful appeal. Why is Kia Seltos Better Than Hyundai Creta: Top 5 Reasons

The Hyundai Creta is currently ruling the mid-size SUV segment and has garnered over 1 lakh bookings since the launch of the facelift model. Its Korean cousin, the Kia Seltos also got a mid-life facelift last year and buyers are often confused between these two SUVs as they share a lot mechanically, however, are poles apart in terms of design and overall appeal. For reference, when this story is written, the Hyundai Creta is easily doing over 15,000 every month as opposed to the Kia Seltos hovering around the 8,000 units mark. So, the Creta is selling in double the numbers as compared to the Kia Seltos. But, if the Seltos appeals to you more than the Creta, this article is for you as we will discuss the top 5 reasons why the Kia Seltos is better than the Hyundai Creta.

1. The Design

Why is Kia Seltos better than Hyundai Creta

If you are reading this article, we are sure you admire the Kia Seltos’ well-built stance. It looks proportionate from every angle and there are hardly any flaws. The front profile feels extremely well articulated with each and every design element speaking of a crystal clear purpose. The 18-inch alloy wheels in the top-spec model are very neatly designed and you get a multitude of alloy wheel options, depending on the variant. The rear profile with that connected LED tail light treatment and dual exhaust on the turbo petrol trim appears extremely sporty.

2. The Interiors

The well-structured cabin layout of the Seltos speaks of sophistication and carries a modern appeal that no other SUV in the segment delivers, even the Creta. Especially, the tan interiors in the top-spec trims are something that feels a segment or two above. The Creta is nowhere near to the Seltos in this aspect. The connected screen with limited bezels, thoughtfully laid out centre console and use of leatherette on the dashboard trim are some of its highlights. The quality levels are top-notch and we couldn’t think of anything better in the segment. In addition to this, there are multiple interior colour themes available on the Kia Seltos which the Creta doesn’t offer.

3. Features on offer

The first thing that we want to point out is the absence of fog lamps on the Creta which the Kia Seltos offers. Not that it matters too much, but an extra pair of lights could prove to be very essential. While both the Creta and Seltos offer a similar set of equipment, the Kia Seltos gets a heads-up display which is missing on the Creta. We liked the infotainment system UI of the Seltos as compared to that of Creta.

4. Variant Distribution

Before going to variants, it is important for you to know that the Kia Seltos is a bit more affordable than the Hyundai Creta. For example, as of April 2024, the Seltos boasts a lower starting price for the 1.5 MPi petrol as well as the 1.5-litre DCRi diesel range. In addition to this, Seltos also offers an additional iMT gearbox with diesel and turbo petrol engines. There’s no iMT on offer with the Creta. Moreover, after the latest 2024 update of the Kia Seltos Facelift which resulted in a major reshuffle, the features are more evenly distributed in the Seltos as compared to the Creta Facelift.

5. Why is Kia Seltos better than Hyundai Creta: Ride, Handling & Engine Character

Why is Kia Seltos better than Hyundai Creta

In terms of ride and handling, the Kia Seltos is inclined towards delivering a sporty character whereas the Creta is comfort-oriented. The Seltos feels better to drive and inspires better confidence along the curves as compared to the Creta. In terms of engine tuning, the Seltos feels slightly more eager to accelerate than the Creta and is felt in the initial RPM band. If you are someone who loves to drive, the Seltos is a better bet than the latest Creta Facelift.

To conclude, the Kia Seltos outperforms the Creta in multiple areas, however, we can’t undermine the fact that the latter aces in multiple aspects as well. It is just a matter of priorities and Kia Seltos has its own set of USPs that will appeal to a particular set of buyers.
