Volkswagen will introduce multiple new cars for the Indian market starting next year; Skoda Kylaq-based sub-compact SUV is also on the cards.
Volkswagen India is solely surviving on its India 2.0 cars which includes the Virtus and Taigun. In addition to this, the Tiguan contributes in just double digits. The company has been consistently selling around 3,500 units every month and plans to take the growth further. For this, the addition of new models to the brand’s portfolio is a must and the German carmaker seems to be moving in the right direction. Let’s look at the 3 upcoming Volkswagen cars in India.

Upcoming Volkswagen Cars India: Volkswagen Compact SUV- Based on Skoda Kylaq
While Volkswagen was earlier shying away from the sub-compact SUV, things recently took a U-turn and now, we can expect a Skoda Kylaq-based compact SUV in the year 2026. The Volkswagen compact SUV will be based on the familiar MQB-A0-IN platform, however, the design will be completely new and different from the Skoda Kylaq, It will carry forward VW’s design direction.
Under the hood, the familiar 1.0-litre TSI engine putting out 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque will be a part of the package. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine could likely be introduced in the GT version, targeting the enthusiasts who can bear the higher price tag for the performance factor. The pricing will be at par with the rivals and it will likely be adequately loaded in terms of features. The Volkswagen Compact SUV will be launched in 2026.
Upcoming Volkswagen Cars India: Volkswagen Virtus Facelift
The Virtus needs no introduction but it surely needs an update. While the design of the Virtus is a classic one, Volkswagen will soon give the sedan a mid-life facelift. The updated model will likely get a design overhaul, following the brand’s latest design language. Expected to be sharper than before, the bumpers, headlights as well as tail lamps will be the major elements which could see a change.
Inside the cabin, an updated dashboard layout and a new set of features such as Level 2 ADAS will be added to the package. Mechanically, the Virtus Facelift will remain as it is, with the familiar 1.0 L and 1.5 L TSI petrol engines. The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to launch around 2025 end or early 2026.

Upcoming Volkswagen Cars India: Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
Apart from the Virtus, the Taigun is also up for a facelift update. Expected to launch in early 2026, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift will get a sharper design with new bumpers, grille, updated alloy wheels and a new set of LED headlamps. In terms of features, we expect it to take a major leap, putting it at par with the Korean rivals i.e. the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The current crop of the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI EVO engines will continue with the facelift model, paired with the familiar set of transmission combinations.
