Nissan is all set to debut the next-gen 2025 Y63 Patrol globally on September 4 and ahead of its launch, new details are being revealed in a phased manner. This time, the Japanese carmaker has confirmed that the new-gen Patrol SUV will do away with the V8 for a twin-turbo V6 engine.

The upcoming new-gen Y63 Nissan Patrol will be powered by the 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, putting out 317 kW (425 BHP) and 700 Nm of peak torque. This engine is shared with the Nissan Infiniti QX80, but it has a slightly less powerful state of tune, however, torque output remains identical. The engine is mated to a nine-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
For reference, the outgoing Y62 Nissan Patrol uses a 5.6 litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The new V6 engine produces 25 extra horses and 140 Nm more torque than the naturally aspirated V8 unit.
The outgoing Y62 Nissan Patrol was launched in the year 2010 and has received two facelifts throughout its lifecycle i.e. in 2014 and 2019. The new Patrol will sport an updated design, in line with Nissan’s latest design direction. The new ‘V-Motion’ front grille, C-shaped vertically stacked tail lamps and the option of up to 22-inch alloy wheels are the highlights.
