BMW has been surrounded by controversies regarding the front grille design of the latest models, which is BMW’s hallmark element. In a similar case, the images of the 2025 BMW X3 have been leaked online and people are again talking about the new front grille which sports a new pattern. Going by the pictures, a heavy rework in the design department can be observed. To what seems like a screenshot from the BMW’s official promotional video, the leaked picture is doing rounds on the internet. The new model codenamed G45 will debut this month followed by its official launch around the year’s end.

From the earlier spy images and the latest raw picture, it is quite clear that there will be a good change in BMW’s overall design philosophy for the X3. The upcoming G45 model sports a new grille paired with diagonal lines joining conventional the straight pattern. The overall grille seems to be inspired by the flagship XM SUV but the pattern is something we have seen for the first time. Setting this aside, the styling at large seems to be a bit toned down and appears on the softer side as compared to the current model. We don’t think it will appeal to the masses and as BMW brand in itself depicts the sporty nature which somehow is missed in this design. Thankfully, the split headlamp setup is not seen here.
In addition to this, the flush door handles can also be observed in the leaked image. The version in the pictures seems to be the plug-in hybrid model as the charging port is visible on the fender.
We saw a lot of comments on multiple social media handles where people are calling out BMW for the uncanny grille, however, we believe that it’s too early to form an opinion, until and unless we see the car in full flesh. Maybe, the new grille could work well with an overall softer design direction.
The G45 2025 BMW X3 will be underpinned by the familiar CLAR platform and is expected to have a slightly wide track. Under the hood, it will continue to draw power from the familiar range of powertrain options such as 2.0-litre 4-cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines, paired to mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid setup, varying according to the market.
